How is a bowl turned?

A bowl is turned using a lathe.

1- Prepare your wood block.

2- Attach to the lathe.

3- Turn the bowl, this involves shaping the outside then wet-sanding with oil and hollowing the bowl out to the correct thickness that you're looking for.

4- Once the bowl is the correct shape, size and thickness you can then sand it down for a smooth finish.

5- Dusting of the bowl completely you then apply an oil-based veneer or particular lacquer if you are looking for a colour finish.

This particular Bowl in made from oak and Mahogany and was glued together horizontally in a block then cut out on the CNC and glued together creating a unique and funky design.
